Recently a good friend of ours had a house fire that significantly damaged his home and personal property. Unfortunately, he didn’t have a written or recorded inventory of his home and its contents, so when the time came to settle with the insurance company, he and his wife had to submit a drawing of each room and a detail of what was in each room. Since then they have thought of thousands of dollars of items that they won’t get paid for because they have already settled with the insurance company and didn’t/couldn’t think of them at the time to add to their detailed list.
